Nipple Reduction

Nipple Reduction procedure includes minimizing the size of protruding or overly enlarged nipples and removing excess tissue to produce an ascetically appropriate breast. When a nipple reduction is done, the concentrate is more generally on nipple representation or height. During the operation, the nipple’s diameter, or width, may also be adjusted.

During a nipple reduction procedure only, local anesthesia is needed. The nipple’s core and trunk can get contaminated with lidocaine. Incisions are made after the preoperative indications. They cut and remove extra skin. Sutures are used to attach the nipple to the surface, minimizing the height. If the nipple width is decreased, then the skin on the nipple diameter will also be sutured back together.

A bandage is placed over the nipple and the areola. Most patients recover within 2 weeks of the treatment. A reducing nipple aims to decrease the nipple’s projection or width. If the nipple decrease is done in combination with other procedures such as a reduction of the areola or an increase in the breast, the healing process may be extended.
