A tummy tuck is a medical procedure used to enhance the texture of the stomach. Extra skin and fat from the stomach are erased during a tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty. Sutures are also commonly used to tighten soft tissue in the abdomen (fascia). The remaining skin is then reconfigured for a more toned appearance.

During a tummy tuck, you will be put under general anesthesia, which will render you completely lost consciousness and incapable of feeling pain. In some cases, you may be given a pain reliever and mildly sedated (partially asleep).
