Body Hair Transplantation

Body hair transplant can refer to one of two opposite procedures: either to remove hair from the body and place it in the scalp or to remove hair from the scalp to place it in the body. In the first scenario, people who want more coverage on their heads but no longer have transplantable scalp hair can have hair harvested and transplanted from the beard or chest to heaven. In the second scenario mentioned above, a man who wants more chest hair can use his scalp hair to be transplanted into his chest to achieve this objective. To remove beard and chest hair and place it in the scalp, it is necessary to use the FUE hair harvesting method, i.e. to remove individual hair from the chest with a small punching device. If the hair is transplanted from the scalp to the chest, either FUE or FU-strip methods can be used, but the latter is more commonly used. Dr. Ashutosh Shah usually carries out a corrective procedure and uses body hair as an additional donor area to improve the appearance of the person.

Ideal candidate

  1. Men who want a hair transplant but who have reduced or reduced donor hair significantly from the scalp
  2. Men with a strong beard and/or chest hair for standard scalp hair transplants

What to do

  1. Make a long-term plan since a body hair transplant may require several sessions.
  2. Avoid shaving for 48 hours prior to the procedure. It is important to keep the beard at a specific length (no longer than 1 to 2 mm or a 2-day growth).
  3. If your beard is white, you should color it the day before the procedure using Just for Men for Beard and Mustache.
  4. If you are out of town, you will be required to arrive the day before the procedure and will be allowed to travel the day after, staying in town for a total of two nights.

What to expect

  1. Beard sites heal very fast and usually cause very little discomfort. You will need to wet your beard (the donor area) 48 hours after the procedure is over.
  2. Harvesting sites can sometimes look like small red or white dots. The chest area tends to create hypopigmented (light) scars so that it can heal with more visible points than the beard area. You can often continue to wear facial hair (such as goat, full beard or mustache), as only hair under the chin (in the neck area) is usually harvested.
  3. Transplanted hair should grow for 3 to 4 months after the procedure and increase for up to 12 months after the procedure.
  4. Beard hair looks and feels more coarse than scalp hair, but it should mix well. Body hair should look and feel finer than scalp hair and may pass through cycles more often than scalp hair or beard hair.
